Welcome 2025!

Jan 1, 2025 | Insights

In the blink of an eye, we said goodbye to 2024, and welcomed 2025.

One year, 365 days, seemed to pass by so fast. As I reviewed my resolutions which was set for previous years, I fulfilled only one resolution. Something that I can proud of is that for this resolution, jog and exercise at least 4 times a week, it had became my routine.

So in 2025, would I be setting any New Year resolutions?

Well, yes and no… Perhaps, let me share more on what I would be up to…

Sometime back, I chanced upon a very interesting article that talked about the 5 hobbies which we must have and cultivate, as a way to add enjoyment and fulfillment to life. There is no one-size-fits-all to this as the best hobbies will depend on one’s interests, personality, and lifestyle. However, the article recommended 5 hobbies for a fulfilling life, which I totally agree and will form the basis of my resolutions for 2025. Here are the 5 hobbies:

  1. A Hobby That Makes You Money: This could be anything that brings me income. Perhaps I could treat my work as my hobby 😅 Having a hobby that generates income, multiple streams, can provide a sense of accomplishment and financial security.
  2. A Hobby That Keeps You In Shape: As the saying goes, Health is Wealth. This would be a very important hobby and could be anything from playing a sport to going for walks or hikes. Exercise is important for both physical and mental health. I am fortunate to have turned my past year resolution, jog and exercise for at least 4 times a week for as least 30 minutes, to a weekly routine and hobby!
  3. A Hobby That Allow You To Be Creative: This could be anything from playing a musical instrument to drawing or painting to writing… Engaging in creative activities can keep the mind active, and the same time, learn a new skill. In addition, it also helps to reduce stress, improve cognitive function, and boost self-esteem.
  4. A Hobby That Builds Knowledge: This could be anything from reading books or articles to taking online or offline courses or attending conferences and seminars. We should embrace lifelong learning as learning new things can help to keep your mind sharp and engaged. At the same time, it can also open up new opportunities for personal and professional growth. I am currently subscribed to the online learning platform, SkillShare, which has online courses ranging from Marketing and Business, Development, Photography etc. I invite you to try SkillShare for free for 1 month, and subscribe to the platform if you find it useful.
  5. A Hobby That Evolves Your Mindset: This could be anything from practicing yoga, meditating or TaiChi. Volunteering or traveling can also expose your horizon. To grow as a person, I believe we must engage in activities that challenge our beliefs and perspectives. This would help us  develop a greater understanding of the world around us.

I will set my resolutions based on the above 5 hobby categories recommend. After so many years, I strongly believe that we do not need a new year to set resolutions. We can do it as and when we want, giving it a milestone for completion. What we need is only a new mindset.

Let us welcome 2025, smile more, worry less, and embrace the beauty of a brand new year! MAKE 2025 SPARKLE! MAKE 2025 GREAT! CHEERS!!
